Whitewater Canoeing, Kayaking and Rafting near Minneapolis MN
Looking for some moving water near the Minneapolis - St Paul Metro ? here are the hot spots the locals frequent:
Vermillion River in Hasting
Just 30 miles south of St. Paul. At mid to lower levels (300 to 100 cfs) the river is very playful with surfing at Railroad, S-bend, and Dough-nut. At higher levels the river gets pushy and the eddies get harder to catch - hang on for a wild ride.
Kettle River in Sandstone
Designated "Scenic and Wild" the Kettle River is a great resource for introducing paddlers to whitewater. Flowing through Banning State Park, the Kettle is class II and III at low to medium levels, and gets dangerous at the higher levels with dangerous undercuts in the canyon walls.
Willow River near Hudson WI
Just north and east of Hudson Wisconsin the Willow winds through woods dropping just enough to give a good ride and allows some surf waves to form. Rating an easy Class II the Willow is a very fun run.
